SALT LAKE CITY, UT– While thousands of GOP delegates from across the country party at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida, candidate from Utah’s 2nd Congressional District, Chris Stewart, is hard at work in Utah spreading word of his plan for a brighter economic future and rallying local support for U.S. Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.
Stewart is gathering Romney supporters from across the state to watch the presidential hopeful deliver his acceptance speech Thursday evening at the Utah Republican Headquarters in downtown Salt Lake City. More than 130 people have already RSVP’d to Stewart’s event on Facebook, and more are expected to attend the actual event.
“I felt my time would be better spent here in Utah discussing issues that affect our state and rallying local support for Romney than mingling with party insiders in Tampa,” Stewart said.
Stewart said his thoughts have been with Republicans representing Utah at the convention, and he has enjoyed their speeches. However, he is grateful for the opportunity to spend time with Utahns.
“I am really looking forward to watching Romney deliver his acceptance speech with the people of our great state. The speeches at the convention have so far been wonderful,” Stewart said.
